Energy Efficient Heating

One of the key ways to save your business money is to ensure the heating installed at your business premises is running efficiently. There are a number of things you can do to increase the energy efficiency so you are less likely to be wasting money:

  1. Ensure the boiler and any components that make up the central heating system in your business premises are serviced regularly.
  2. Report any faults so they can be fixed as soon as possible - failure to do so could cause more damage and result in system failure.
  3. Check the pipes to your central heating system are lagged - this prevents loss of heat by insulating your pipework and can prevent bursts in winter.
  4. Fit thermostatic valves so individual temperature control can be achieved.
  5. Turn off radiators in rooms that aren't used or keep at a minimal temperature if they are used infrequently, i.e. board rooms and spare offices.
  6. Upgrade your boiler and radiators if they are old - you could be paying out much more for less heat from an inefficient radiator than a newer more efficient model.
  7. Turn heating off over weekends, or switch it down to a minimal temperature, and if your business closes down over Christmas or bank holidays, think of the extra fuel you could be using leaving the boiler running. Switch it off and save valuable money and preserve the life of your system.

Energy efficient appliances and systems that are running properly without faults will save your business money in the long term and you are less likely to have inconvenience for you, your customers, employees or tenants renting your business premises from failed heating.
